Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need planning permission to have a hut in our garden?
Shepherd huts are mobile, on wheels and are considered temporary additions to your home. Therefore planning permission is not normally required. However, we recommend that you seek advise before making a purchase.
Can we have a bespoke hut to fit our needs?
This is what we do at Abercorran Shepherd Huts. We love a challenge and can produce the perfect shepherd hut for you. Just get in touch and we can make your dream shepherd hut a reality.
Do you delivery huts anywhere in the UK?
We are happy to deliver your shepherd hut anywhere in the UK. Just get in touch for a quote.
What ground is suitable for my shepherd hut?
Most ground can be made suitable for your shepherd hut. They require a firm base to prevent them from sinking into the ground due to their weight. Suitable surfaces to consider would be slabs, sleepers or aggregate.
What extras can we have for our hut?
This is our speciality at Abercorran Shepherd Huts! All our huts are bespoke to our customers’ requirements. Huts have multi-purpose uses. We can make any size and add whatever extra features you require. Solid wood flooring, underheating, woodburning stoves, and fully fitted furniture are popular with our customers.
What happens about drainage for my shepherd hut?
A hut fitted with flushing toilet and a shower will need connecting either to the main drain or a septic tank system. If connecting to the main drainage is not possible, we are able to install self-contained composting units, or cassette type toilets. Check out our Newport Toilet Block Hut in Our Hut gallery!
How long will we have to wait for our shepherd hut to be made and delivered?
A shepherd hut is typically built within 4-5 weeks.
